Following Jesus
We all want to make progress as we go through life, even one step at a time. We often find that the circumstances of life, and our own habits, can prevent us from moving forward. At Church in the Valley, many of us have found that true life change begins with a decision to follow Jesus Christ as the “boss” of our lives.
To make Jesus your “boss” means you trust Him with your life and yield to him. The outcome of your faith in Christ is that you decide you will stop doing life your way and start doing life his way.
What does God want?
God lays out his will for us in the Bible. You begin to follow Jesus when you put your faith in Him and start living by God’s standards and his guidelines for your life instead of insisting on living your own way. The following illustration summarizes the central message of the Bible:
How will we respond?
Many people believe that some god exists. Others believe that Jesus Christ is God. However, it is when a person believes in Jesus Christ to the extent he starts to obey that he actually connects with Christ and becomes His follower.
If you will genuinely surrender to follow him, Jesus will begin to provide power to live life His way. He leads us to the best kind of life possible, both now and for eternity.
